I love fall. The weather is perfect – crisp mornings lead to warm afternoons and chilly nights. You have the chance to wear the cutest clothes of the season. Who doesn’t love layering tights, knee high socks, circle skirts, scarves, and sweaters? And can we talk about fall food? You never get the chance to eat cranberries, candied nuts, or pumpkin any other time of the year! Continue reading Brown Butter Pumpkin Cupcakes
When life gives me lemons, I make Lemon-Blueberry Chiffon Cake.
It’s the summer now. The weather’s getting warmer, the clothes are getting shorter, and the fruits are getting sweeter. One of my favorite things to eat, in the world, are summer fruits. Mangoes, lemons, pineapples, the list is endless. The best thing is coming from a hot day, and engulfing a large bowl of fresh, cold fruit.
Lemons and blueberries are one of my favorite combinations on the entire planet. The tart, sour taste of the lemon is brightened and complimented with the sweetness of the blueberry. And, the yellow and blue color of both fruits is such a cheerful and happy combination. I mean, how can you not be in a lively mood with blue and yellow?
The only thing that could possibly improve the macaron is with chocolate. Ever since my last post about macarons, I’ve improved my technique a bit, and I’m proud to say I can successfully make them almost every time. Now the only thing left for me to do in the macaron world besides mastering the cookie, of course, is to make every flavor known to man. I decided to start with something simple, the chocolate macaron. Continue reading Chocolate Macarons
Nothing makes me more excited about the Spring than vibrant fresh fruits, like strawberries and mangos. I was inspired to bake this cake after my friend, Yasir, requested it from my innovation project, Krimi Sweets. This cake is super easy and fast to assemble. The cake base isn’t tricky itself, and the frosting isn’t temperamental either.
A blini is probably the most expensive pancake you can order at a fancy breakfast brunch in some swanky hotel in New York. A blini is Russian for “pancake.” Blinis have evolved to be something more than that in modern times. Continue reading Poor Man’s Blini
Ever since I found out about the sweet world of baking, it’s like a night light shined in my life. I found that the most frustrating thing about life itself is that I have practically no control over anything. But with baking, I am finally in control of what goes in and out and I can dictate exactly what I want to happen. I feel at ease when I bake, and more importantly, I feel myself and calm.
“They are more to me than life, these voices, they are more than motherliness and more than fear; they are the strongest, most comforting thing there is anywhere: they are the voices of my comrades.” -Paul Baumer, All Quiet on the Western Front Continue reading RE:Framed: My (Baking) Comrades
That’s right. Brownies without a boxed mix, because you’re better than that.
I’ve made crunchy brownies, I’ve made brownies that were chewier than gum. But, today, I think I’ve reached brownie heaven. Continue reading Supreme Dense Brownies
I love French Macarons. Love. Them. They’re just so dainty, small, and so delicious. Macarons pair great with coffee and tea, and they’re such a treat to have. And I finally got the chance to make them again, with a few adjustments to my recipe. After endless hours of researching the web for a recipe, I finally formulated an astounding, macaron recipe. This recipe will give the type of macarons that are crispy on the outside, chewy and soft on the inside, and NOT hallow. Continue reading Mad, Mad, for French Macarons (Recipe Updated!)
This post isn’t really a recipe, but just an idea I wanted to share with you all.
Are you ever in the need of something to bring to a party, or potluck, but you don’t have time? Does that something need to be quick and delicious, and something everyone will love?
The cookie cake is your answer, my friend. It’s literally a giant cookie paired with some sweet frosting to satisfy those sugar addicts out there (you know who you are). And it’s even quicker and more impressive looking than a regular batch of cookies. All you need is a lined cake pan, some cookie dough, and some frosting and you’re ready to go!
