Apples to Peaches to Everything in Between

Hello hello! I’m back from a lovely and quite short 3 month vacation. While I vowed that I would blog during my time off from school, other priorities came in the way.  It’s not that I don’t love blogging and baking, I took some time away to rest and breathe. Continue reading Apples to Peaches to Everything in Between

Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies!

Crinkle cookies are delicious, cake-like cookies coated in a layer of powdered sugar.  Normally, you’d find recipes online for these cookies that use cake mix.  And I am an advocate of making everything from scratch!  This recipe is super easy and makes about 3 dozen cookies per batch!  Enough to feed a small crowd of 1! (Just kidding)  I love eating these fresh out of the oven when they’re warm and goey and the combination of powdered sugar to cookie just melts in your mouth.  Or, you can save them and dip them with a tall glass of milk as a perfect treat to end the day.  However you eat these cookies, they will, no doubt, satisfy whatever sweet craving you have.  These cookies are favorites to whoever I feed them to, and I’m sure they’ll turn into your favorites as well! Supreme Dense Brownies

No matter how many French Macarons, classic Chocolate Chip Cookies, or cupcakes that you bake in life, you’re always going to have a large, sweet spot for the baked, fudgy, homemade brownie.

That’s right.  Brownies without a boxed mix, because you’re better than that.

I’ve made crunchy brownies, I’ve made brownies that were chewier than gum.  But, today, I think I’ve reached brownie heaven.   Continue reading Supreme Dense Brownies

Salted Caramel Sauce, or Liquid Gold

I commend whoever invented salted caramel.  It’s pure genius.  Salted caramel has a slightly nutty depth of flavor, along with contrasting salty notes that harmonize beautifully with smooth and luscious melted sugar. Continue reading Salted Caramel Sauce, or Liquid Gold

Brown Butter Pumpkin Cupcakes

Wow that title was a mouthful!  There’s nothing I love more about Thanksgiving then the flavors and scents that you get.  Like pumpkin, sweet maple, and a spicy cinnamon.  Really, I never bake any of those flavors again in the year, except during fall and Thanksgiving!  If you’re trying to find something to bring to that (second) Thanksgiving dinner party, look no further.  These cupcakes are TO DIE FOR. Dark Chocolate & Cranberry Banana Bread

I think smells, such as the aroma of cinnamon and chocolate wafting from your oven really signifies that the holiday season is upon us.  I mean, besides spending time with your loved ones, appreciating love and being thankful, the holidays are the baking epitome of the year for me. Red Velvet White Chocolate Heaven

Seriously, one bite of these cookies, and you’ll be hooked.  Served with a tall glass of milk, it’s probably the best thing to have cuddling up with a loved one over the fire.  (By loved one I mean my Harry Potter books)  These are seriously the best red velvet cookies.  Just a smidge of chocolate lurking in that chewy, yet soft cookie.  Red velvet is perfect because you can have the best of both worlds.  The white chocolate chips complements the flavor and also adds a nice texture to the otherwise plain cookie! Vanilla Buttercream, the Honest-to-Goodness Best Recipe EVER

My favorite frosting on this whole wide world is classic Vanilla Buttercream.  I love how it has a remiscent taste of vanilla ice cream, and its smooth and creamy texture.  But, not all Vanilla Buttercreams are made the same, no no no.  Store bought Vanilla Buttercream?  That “stuff” should be made illegal.  Vanilla Buttercream from a cupcakery?  Too sweet and gritty.  (Ahem Sprinkles Cupcakes)   But homemade Vanilla Buttercream, yes PLEASE.  Free of shortening and overuse of powdered sugar, homemade Vanilla Buttercream is truly the greatest.  It can be paired with any cupcake or cake, and it is versatile enough to pipe on beautiful flowers and designs.
