Chocolate Macarons

The only thing that could possibly improve the macaron is with chocolate.  Ever since my last post about macarons, I’ve improved my technique a bit, and I’m proud to say I can successfully make them almost every time.  Now the only thing left for me to do in the macaron world besides mastering the cookie, of course, is to make every flavor known to man.  I decided to start with something simple, the chocolate macaron.   Continue reading Chocolate Macarons

RE:Framed: Let It Go!

It’s that time of the school year again…

In case if you don’t know where this fabulous image is from, it’s taken from the cinematic creation called Frozen, the latest hit from Disney Animation Studios.  Now, it’s been awhile since Disney made a truly good musical; you know, the one that wrenches your heart and questions your thoughts about humanity.

I’m not going to give any spoilers, but Frozen is so wonderful that I’ve watched it 3 times, and I’ve cried each time.  It’s an amazing story about sisterly love, subjecting yourself to true love, which is putting someone else’s needs in front of yours, and of course, Princesses and Princes, like any classic Disney film. Cream Cheese Frosting

Cream cheese frosting is the most delicious frosting, tart, sweet, and wonderful frosting that was ever invented on this planet.  It’s my favorite, and it’s so versatile and it goes well with ANYTHING.  I used to only make cream cheese frosting, until some friends of mine grew sick and tired of it.  But me?  Please, I will never get sick and tired of cream cheese frosting. RE:Framed: Photography and the power of the Rule of Thirds

The Power of Three.  Not one, but Three.  I’ve been obsessing over this concept recently ever since I came across it in The Count of Monte Cristo.  This book, which essentially is Pretty Little Liars meets Revenge meets Gossip Girl is, although long, full of twists and turns and metaphors, and in short, it’s just great.  Now, not to give away any spoilers, the main character of The Count of Monte Cristo  splits himself into 3 main characters in which he uses to enact his revenge on his enemies.  Other instances in the novel occur in threes as well – which led me to question the significance of this crazy number. Classic Red Velvet Cupcakes

Red Velvet was the first flavor of cake that I fell in love with.  It’s unique chocolate-y, slightly tart flavor and vivid red color makes it unique against all other cakes.  For those of you who aren’t familiar with red velvet, let me break it down for you.  It’s a vanilla base cake, with just a touch of coco and tastes delightfully tangy and sweet.  It’s dense and moist crumb yields an incredible velvet texture.  Red velvet isn’t just vanilla, or isn’t just chocolate; it’s a wonderful combination of both. RE:Framed: The Krimi Sweetastic Update (I tried to be punny with the title)

Clean, Gluten Free Strawberry Pancakes

It took me forever to perfect this pancake recipe.  I’ve been searching for a clean pancake recipe everywhere.  The recipes were definitely out the box and ridiculous, and some of them didn’t even turn out to be pancakes at all.  I’ve tried Blogilates’ 2 Ingredient Pancake Recipe, I’ve tried One Ingredient Chef’s Pancakes.  But, none of them cut it for me. I  wanted a clean pancakes, without any of the flour and such, and no banana.
