Chocolate Macarons

The only thing that could possibly improve the macaron is with chocolate.  Ever since my last post about macarons, I’ve improved my technique a bit, and I’m proud to say I can successfully make them almost every time.  Now the only thing left for me to do in the macaron world besides mastering the cookie, of course, is to make every flavor known to man.  I decided to start with something simple, the chocolate macaron.   Continue reading Chocolate Macarons

Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies!

Crinkle cookies are delicious, cake-like cookies coated in a layer of powdered sugar.  Normally, you’d find recipes online for these cookies that use cake mix.  And I am an advocate of making everything from scratch!  This recipe is super easy and makes about 3 dozen cookies per batch!  Enough to feed a small crowd of 1! (Just kidding)  I love eating these fresh out of the oven when they’re warm and goey and the combination of powdered sugar to cookie just melts in your mouth.  Or, you can save them and dip them with a tall glass of milk as a perfect treat to end the day.  However you eat these cookies, they will, no doubt, satisfy whatever sweet craving you have.  These cookies are favorites to whoever I feed them to, and I’m sure they’ll turn into your favorites as well! Macaron Mishaps

We’ve all been there.  You take out a good 3 to 4 hours of your day to attempt the afamed macaron, a delicate French cookie that seems to be taking the world by storm.  And, after those 3 to 4 hours, as you sit by the oven, watching your creations, terrible things happen.  From cracks, to macarons stuck together, to hallows, the marks of a failed macaron are endless.  You’re about to pull out your hair because you spent so much time on these finnicky cookies. Mad, Mad, for French Macarons (Recipe Updated!)

I love French Macarons.  Love.  Them.  They’re just so dainty, small, and so delicious.   Macarons pair great with coffee and tea, and they’re such a treat to have.  And I finally got the chance to make them again, with a few adjustments to my recipe.  After endless hours of researching the web for a recipe, I finally formulated an astounding, macaron recipe.  This recipe will give the type of macarons that are crispy on the outside, chewy and soft on the inside, and NOT hallow. Double C, Cookie Cake!

This post isn’t really a recipe, but just an idea I wanted to share with you all.

Are you ever in the need of something to bring to a party, or potluck, but you don’t have time?  Does that something need to be quick and delicious, and something everyone will love?

The cookie cake is your answer, my friend.  It’s literally a giant cookie paired with some sweet frosting to satisfy those sugar addicts out there (you know who you are).  And it’s even quicker and more impressive looking than a regular batch of cookies.  All you need is a lined cake pan, some cookie dough, and some frosting and you’re ready to go! Better than your Grandma’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

I’m not making any wild claims out there, but I promise you: These are the best chocolate chip cookies you’ve probably ever eaten.  And yea yea, I know, everyone has their own preferences, I get it!  But to me, a perfect cookie must be just chewy and crisp on the outside, and have a puffy and just decadent center.  The balance of chip to cookie dough must be on a 1:2 scale.  A chocolate chip cookie must have that melt-in-your-mouth brown sugar flavor. Red Velvet White Chocolate Heaven

Seriously, one bite of these cookies, and you’ll be hooked.  Served with a tall glass of milk, it’s probably the best thing to have cuddling up with a loved one over the fire.  (By loved one I mean my Harry Potter books)  These are seriously the best red velvet cookies.  Just a smidge of chocolate lurking in that chewy, yet soft cookie.  Red velvet is perfect because you can have the best of both worlds.  The white chocolate chips complements the flavor and also adds a nice texture to the otherwise plain cookie!
