When life gives me lemons, I make Lemon-Blueberry Chiffon Cake.
It’s the summer now. The weather’s getting warmer, the clothes are getting shorter, and the fruits are getting sweeter. One of my favorite things to eat, in the world, are summer fruits. Mangoes, lemons, pineapples, the list is endless. The best thing is coming from a hot day, and engulfing a large bowl of fresh, cold fruit.
Lemons and blueberries are one of my favorite combinations on the entire planet. The tart, sour taste of the lemon is brightened and complimented with the sweetness of the blueberry. And, the yellow and blue color of both fruits is such a cheerful and happy combination. I mean, how can you not be in a lively mood with blue and yellow?
The only thing that could possibly improve the macaron is with chocolate. Ever since my last post about macarons, I’ve improved my technique a bit, and I’m proud to say I can successfully make them almost every time. Now the only thing left for me to do in the macaron world besides mastering the cookie, of course, is to make every flavor known to man. Red Velvet was the first flavor of cake that I fell in love with. It’s unique chocolate-y, slightly tart flavor and vivid red color makes it unique against all other cakes. For those of you who aren’t familiar with red velvet, let me break it down for you. It’s a vanilla base cake, with just a touch of coco and tastes delightfully tangy and sweet. It’s dense and moist crumb yields an incredible velvet texture. Red velvet isn’t just vanilla, or isn’t just chocolate; it’s a wonderful combination of both. It took me forever to perfect this pancake recipe. I’ve been searching for a clean pancake recipe everywhere. The recipes were definitely out the box and ridiculous, and some of them didn’t even turn out to be pancakes at all. I’ve tried Blogilates’ 2 Ingredient Pancake Recipe, I’ve tried One Ingredient Chef’s Pancakes. But, none of them cut it for me. I wanted a clean pancakes, without any of the flour and such, and no banana.
Nothing makes me more excited about the Spring than vibrant fresh fruits, like strawberries and mangos. I was inspired to bake this cake after my friend, Yasir, requested it from my innovation project, Krimi Sweets. This cake is super easy and fast to assemble. The cake base isn’t tricky itself, and the frosting isn’t temperamental either.
